Set your school’s graduation requirements in MySchool and track each student’s progress against them.
Tracking graduation eligibility often means cross-checking transcripts, course lists, and credit requirements in spreadsheets. A missing required subject may only be spotted when it is difficult to address.
MySchool’s upcoming Diploma module will bring those checks into one place. Your school will be able to define its diploma requirements, link students to them, and see whether their current enrolments and results put them on track to graduate.
Here is what it will do and how your school will use it.
What the Diploma module will do
The Diploma module will let your school recreate its provincial, state, or national diploma requirements in MySchool. You will set the rules, and MySchool will compare each linked student’s enrolments and results against them.
Academic staff will be able to see who is on track, identify which requirements a student is falling short on, and share that progress with families through grade reports.
“On track” will reflect the information currently held in MySchool. It will help staff monitor progress and plan support, while the final graduation outcome will depend on students completing the requirements.
What your school will be able to set up
Schools will be able to configure a diploma to reflect the requirements that apply to their students.
MySchool already has predefined rules for certain diplomas, so depending on the diploma your school follows, those requirements may already be configured. The diploma builder will cover:
- Total credits: The overall number needed to graduate.
- Mandatory and elective requirements: Which subjects and credits count towards each.
- Grade-level requirements: The minimum credits needed at a particular grade level.
- Required assessments: Assessments students need to complete.
- Pass marks: The results needed to earn credits.
Once students are linked to a diploma, MySchool will check their progress against those rules automatically. A dedicated administrator page will list the students, show how each is doing, and break down any requirements they are falling short on.
Schools will also be able to attach a PDF to grade reports showing parents whether their child is on track to graduate.
How your school will use it
Reviewing progress before course selection. A guidance counsellor checks the diploma page before students choose next year’s courses. Let’s say several students are falling short on mandatory Science credits. The counsellor can see the gap and discuss suitable course choices with them while there is still time to adjust their plans.
Keeping families informed. At the end of a reporting period, your school attaches the diploma progress PDF to grade reports. Parents can see how their child is progressing towards graduation alongside their grades.
Monitoring a year group. A head of secondary school or registrar reviews the students linked to a diploma to see who is on track and where follow-up is needed. Staff can use that overview to focus their attention, then look at the specific requirements affecting each student.
Why we built it
Graduation tracking often involves information that schools already hold, but staff still have to bring it together manually. Someone checks the transcript, compares it with the required subjects, counts credits, and follows up on anything missing.
Those checks take time. When a gap is found late, a student may have fewer options for completing the missing requirement.
The Diploma module will make these checks automatic and ongoing, helping administrators and counsellors identify gaps earlier and spend more time supporting students. Because schools can configure the requirements that apply to them, the module will support schools across different jurisdictions.
That being said, its role is to track progress. Official diplomas will still be issued by the relevant government or awarding body, and schools will continue to follow their existing processes for reporting to education authorities.
Who it is for
The module will be most relevant to secondary and high schools with credit-based graduation requirements.
Academic administrators, registrars, guidance counsellors, and heads of secondary schools will use it to set up requirements and monitor students. School leaders will gain an overview of graduation readiness, while students and parents will benefit from clearer progress reporting.
What to do next
The Diploma module will be available to all MySchool customers once released. Schools will need to switch it on and configure their requirements.
Existing customers can contact their Customer Success Manager to discuss setup. Schools joining MySchool can raise it during onboarding. There will be no activation deadline, so your school can get started when it is ready.
Reliable progress checks will depend on correctly configured requirements and up-to-date enrolments and grades.
Documentation will be available at launch.
